Microneedling Q & A
What is microneedling?
Microneedling is an aesthetic beauty treatment specially designed to prompt your body’s natural healing response and elastin and collagen production for tighter, smoother, firmer, and younger-looking skin.
Most microneedling devices can rejuvenate your skin on several body parts, including the face, neck, hands, legs, abdomen, and back. Microneedling can help address specific cosmetic problems, such as wrinkles and scarring.
Why would I choose microneedling?
Microneedling is highly effective for resolving numerous skin concerns, such as:
- Stretch marks
- Rosacea
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Age spots
- Premature skin aging
- Acne scars
- Enlarged pores
Dr. Bouzaglou can help you decide if microneedling is right for you.
How does microneedling work?
During your microneedling treatment, Dr. Bouzaglou applies a topical gel to your skin for your comfort. The gel also helps the microneedling device to glide smoothly over your skin.
Dr. Bouzaglou uses ultra-fine needles to make tiny holes in the upper layer of your skin. The microneedling process typically takes around 15-30 minutes.
The tiny precise micro-wounds trigger elastin and collagen production which occurs over time. Multiple treatments might be necessary to get the best results.
What is microneedling with PRP?
The Center for Plastic Surgery and Med Spa also provides microneedling with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) for optimal facial rejuvenation.
Plasma is the liquid part of your blood, and you also have red and white blood cells and platelets. The platelets contain growth factors that are beneficial for stimulating cell regeneration and healing injuries.
To create your PRP, Dr. Bouzaglou carefully draws a small amount of blood from your arm, then separates and concentrates the platelets by spinning the blood sample in a centrifuge. She blends the highly concentrated platelets with a small amount of plasma and then injects the solution into the treatment area. Multiple injections can typically be administered in just one convenient session.
Dr. Bouzaglou can also add human growth hormone serum to further optimize your results.
What is microneedling with RF?
The Potenza microneedling treatment uses ultrafine needles and radiofrequency (RF) energy to penetrate the top layer of the skin and trigger the body’s natural healing process to regenerate new collagen and elastin. Unlike some other skin revitalization treatments, these treatments can be performed on all skin types, anywhere on the body, and any time of the year. The Potenza microneedling treatment can treat a wide variety of skin concerns on the face and body. Using RF energy will trigger your body’s natural response to create an increased level of collagen and elastin production, resulting in an enhanced skin revitalization treatment versus microneedling alone.
